A man was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault after he wielded a knife and
threatened Titans cornerback Pacman Jones Friday night. Jones was at a bowling alley in Franklin, Tennessee, according to a local TV station.
Franklin police said that Jones was at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center with family and friends when Clayton Smith came up to Jones, threatening him before pulling out a knife.
So far all indications are that Jones is the victim here. I say "so far" because Jones has a long
rap sheet and was recently accused of starting a fight at a strip club, leading to a shooting that left a man paralyzed. At this point it's hard to give Jones the benefit of the doubt, but he was hanging out at a place called a "family entertainment center," not a strip club, so maybe this time he wasn't looking for trouble.

Bad news travel faster than good news! More people will know you faster and remember you longer for your transgressions instead of your goodness. That's the nature of the beast unfortunately. Here we have Pacman Jones who is unfortunately better known for his transgressions most recently. He is therefore a marked man in which a sickminded opportunist will come after. There used to be a joke about Mike Tyson which implied someone intentionally taunting him and telling him: "You better not do anything because you know that the legal system and half of the public don't like you anyway!" Some opportunist's feel this way about Pacman Jones and will try to draw that reported aggression out of him because they know he's marked. Therefore gambling on the fact that it's almost a "SHOE-IN" that whatever way they say the situation happened the legal system will side with them.

Pacman is a product of his environment. His problem is that he feels that he is invincible and has no need to remove himself from situations that may be harmful to his family, himself or his career. When an athlete becomes professional, they tend to forget that their sport is their only trade and that minimum wage will not support a lifestyle. Perhaps he'll join a long list of other "Invincibles" who are now pushing up daiseys or rsting in a rehab center. Buy him a casket now, because one day we'll read that he was on the wrong end of a bullet or knife and leaves behind a family.

Number 4 - We already fumigated the White House in 2000, remember? Since then, it's women, including kids like the interns, are safe to roam the halls there.

Hey Michael,
Get in the real world, willya? You sickening apologist for the sterrotypical comments is lame. I guess if you has Ted Bundy in the center of a rape/killing at a Family Center, you'd be telling everyone how he is a "victim" of a prejudicial public caused by a previous event. Please, start to understand the logic before your posting a dopey comment.

He is a thug that just attracts trouble. But considering where this happened at - I think this was just a case of someone looking for an opportunity to make the papers. But he is a main example of all the things wrong with sports today. These young punks need an attitude adjustment.
And Chuck from comment No.8 - yeah "women and kids like the interns" may be safe to roam the halls of the White House now...that is if they don't die in a meaningless war first.

Pacman Jones is another example that some athletes cannot control themselves in society. There are bad people in all aspects of life, not just professional sports, with a distinct difference. Jones chose to become a professional athlete and take on a public image. He has destroyed the support he had of his team, Titans fans, and the general public. The Titans and any other team would be crazy to sign someone that cannot keep their names out of the newspaper so often in a negative light. Even Sean Taylor has been clean for over a year. This type of activity sends negative images about what is accepted to the younger generation of athletes that are coming up in the world. When is it enough? Stop paying these thugs, whiners and crybabies millions of dollars to play a game. They start to think they are entitled to tens of millions of dollars a year because they have family to support (Sprewell). Professional sports has taken a downward spiral in the past decade or so because we as fans and consumers continue to patronize contests that support the behavior of these jerks. Jones' supporters can quit blaming his upbringing and environment because there are literally thousands of people that grow up in the same conditions and don't have the same amount of problems that he does. These are choices, not uncontrollable events.

I live in Franklin, and that entertainment center is not exactly a threshhold of violence...it's a bowling alley with an arcade. Not the kind of place that one would go to look for trouble. Strip clubs and bars I can understand...but not at a BOWLING ALLEY. On saturday nights it's a meca for highschoolers and people in their 20's. I wouldn't be surprised if Pacman really had nothing to do with this. But there does seem to be a lot of people on here making some pretty ruthless replies based on a very limited amount of information. just thoughts

What pacman really could use is a tour of duty in the
armed services where he would have learned a little discipline. I suggest that for a lot of todays coddled athletes. Then they would appreciate how good they have it.
